"I decided to do Lightening Up as weight has been a big thing for me for a long time. I knew that i needed to make some changes and felt that this would be a good complementary option. I was keen to have a more positive body image and to start to make healthier choices - if it helped to shift the weight (which was what i really wanted) all the better. What I didn't realise was that this would shift so much for me. It was so much more than about my weight. At the start of Lightening Up i had a lot of issues regarding my father and did not like or respect him and would become reactive if people were talking about him. I have also had relationships that were not that positive. Lightening Up gave me so much insight and healing. I understand my father better and do not have negative feelings when he is brought up. I also understand areas i need to work on with my relationships and was able to identify themes i was re-living. Bonus is i have made better choices and now exercise regularly and I am eating better as well as starting to shift the weight (whoop whoop!).
